I just rediscovered this video, about one small part of the collaboration with Ocean Discovery Institute. Such good work being done here, and I am pleased to have the support of my University, College of Arts & Sciences (and our amazing Deans), and my Department to pursue these efforts. 

Once a week for twelve weeks, PEN In The Classroom instructor Amy Wallen taught a creative writing workshop to high school students at Ocean Discovery Institute. The students then traveled to Baja to perform scientific research. When they returned, they used their writing skills to draft scientific reports and write reflections on their time away.
