Excited to see astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley launch today! This one felt kind of personal for me…I went to graduate school with Bob’s wife, astronaut Megan McArthur. Eleven years ago she invited us to her launch on the space shuttle. We even got to bring our then 2-year-old daughter to see the launch (see picture above).

It turns out that we didn’t get to visit Megan much closer on that trip than you see in the picture, since astronauts have to quarantine prior to launch. But we did get to meet her husband, Bob, who was just as charming and funny as all of the articles say he is, even in our brief chat. And that whole experience created a lasting impression on all of us - especially our daughter, who early in life saw that oceanographer/astronaut is just one of the many possible jobs for a woman. The whole thing has been something we still talk about often, all of these years later.

We look forward to seeing Bob and Doug make a safe return!
